We are a joint cricket and tennis club with around 500 members (270 adults, 230 juniors), including 60 in our junior performance squads. Historically the club has been very successful in attracting and retaining membership, which is why we have one of the largest memberships in the local area. Our courts are used throughout the year and we have a lovely clubhouse which houses a fully licensed bar. Highgate is part of the Shepherd’s Cot, a beautiful area of countryside right in the heart of Crouch End. We are a registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and a registered LTA venue.
The Shepherds Cot Trust (SCT) is an area of land held in trust situated in the centre of London N8. Given over exclusively to sports and recreational activities it is the home of a number of Cricket and Tennis Clubs. These include member clubs Hanley Tennis Club, Highgate Cricket and Tennis Club and North London Cricket Club – as well as Georgians Tennis Club for which the Shepherds Cot Trust is landlord. The SCT land is managed by a team of volunteer trustees who are drawn from the member clubs. More information can be found here
Clubhouse and Bar
Highgate is lucky enough to have some of the best local Thai food served by the wonderful and generous Chanya and Amy. You don’t have to play to eat, but there’s nothing better than tucking into a pad thai and a beer – from our licensed bar – after a long match. The bar is open from Monday to Friday 6pm – 10.30pm, Saturday 10am – 11pm and Sunday 10am to 10om.
If you’d like to hire the venue or book catering, please contact us.
Run by volunteers for its members and the local community, Highgate is managed by a General Committee, a Tennis Committee and Cricket Committee. More info on club’s committees can be found here.
We always look for volunteers to help run the club. If you have a specific skill you think we could do with or you’d just like to help out, please contact a member of the Tennis Committee.
What does the committee do?
The committees ensure that the club runs according to the needs and requirements of its members. The Tennis Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and is mandated to manage projects as agreed at the AGM. It looks after areas such as coaching, development, communications, administration, court scheduling and tournaments.
If you have feedback about the club, please email email@example.com

Highgate recently raised £90K (£50k from a Sport England grant and £40k from club funds) to refurbish the changing facilities at the clubhouse and improve storage facilities. We now have a bathroom for disabled users on the ground floor and better changing rooms and new showers upstairs.
If you spot something that needs fixing please contact our maintenance person who manages the club’s maintenance.
We are always looking at ways we can raise money for the club – if you have any idea, do let us know and if you’d like to donate money to the club on a monthly basis, please follow this link.
