Once again it’s that time of year when you should be clearing a space on your mantelpiece in anticipation of that first trophy of the new season, won at the Brookside Tournament.  For those new members who have not participated before, the Brookside Tournament is a handicapped (i.e. absolutely anyone can win) event spanning 3 weeks in May/June.  The Tournament has singles and doubles events and is played on our shale courts at Brookside.

A poster with details of the event is here, which you can also see displayed at the club house .  The important details being:

  • Dates: Saturday, 10 May to Sunday, 1 June
  • Events: Men’s and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles. There are also plate competitions for all events (assuming numbers are appropriate)
  • Doubles Partners:  Partners are drawn randomly
  • Handicapping: Everyone is rated and will receive or give points from/to their opponents on every game played
  • Entry: Please sign-up on the sheets on Tennis Noticeboard by 10am, Saturday, 3 May, when the draw will take place
  • Availability. To enter you must not be away for significant periods of the Tournament and you must be available for the Finals weekend (Saturday and Sunday).  Being away for one weekend, other than the finals, can usually be accommodated but obviously this is dependent on a number of factors.
