Last Thursday Night Winter League of 2015…

So sadly Thursday winter league has come to an end for another year and most people who have played this year turned out to see the season out in typical Thursday night  style.

After play the real fun started …Tom, Rob, Kirstie won drinks at the bar for their play on the night. Then after a entertaining ‘night by night’ summary of the years league from Steve  S-R the hotly contested awards ceremony began.

Ian deservedly won the most improved player, topping the rankings for several  nights in the season. Francesco still needs to master the ace / double fault combination hence only came second this year. The ‘bromance prize’ was taken this year by  Francesco and Donnie whose lengthy training sessions together (with Francesco’s basket of balls)  finally paid dividend.

The mixed doubles crown was claimed  by the legendary Janet and John Newton. Richard Colbeys secret stash of red wine and convivial banter won him the most votes in the ‘trapped in the club house award’.

Finally the  all important ’embodiment of Thursday night’ prize went to Rachel Lewis who sacrificed her night of tennis while Chanya was away to wine and dine us. John Ag won a medal for being lovely and getting the most votes overall.

A massive, in the words of Abba ‘thank you for the music’ to Tim. You are a super star!
