Pedestrianisation during Easter Tennis Camps

Important information for Easter Camps, starting on Monday 7 April 2025
As you’re probably aware if you’ve been to recent AGMs, we have been wanting to make the area by the club, Cot Way, into a safer, more pedestrian friendly environment for a while. This is also part of the Shepherds Cot Trust’s plans for improving the site and moving most parking to the two main car parks to make the centre of the site a safer, more pedestrian friendly environment.

In the last couple of months, the Trust has agreed to our proposal to trial having Cot Way closed to traffic during the day, while Easter Camps are running. This will be a chance for everyone to get a feel for parking in the main car parks before a full 12-month trial the Trust will be implementing, starting in the Autumn, after the cricket season.

What you need to know for next two weeks

The key thing to remember for now is that if you’re arriving to site by car on Easter camp days Monday 7 – Friday 11 April and Monday 14 – Thursday 17 Apr you will need use either the main Park Road entrance car park or the Montenotte entrance car park and then make the 1-2 minute walk to the club. Cot Way will be pedestrian and cycle only from first thing in the morning when the site opens around 7am until just after camps around 4pm, after which it will be open as normal until the site closes in the evening as normal around 10.30pm. This applies only for the above-mentioned dates.

As with the recent signage you may have seen around the Cot, if you’re able to walk, cycle or take the bus to get here, even better, it’ll give you a free pre-tennis warm up and you can come right to the doorstep at the club. If you’re cycling, please do so considerately towards pedestrians as you come through the site and as you approach the club.

Please also be mindful and aware of the ongoing building works at Brookside and Georgians as you pass by.

Feedback and queries
If you’re interested to know more about this short trial during Easter camps or have any feedback please speak to Jane Sumner, Anjali Turner or Richard Tusting or email info@highgate-tennis.co.uk. We would be keen to hear views of what works well and what could do with some tweaks ahead of the full trial in Autumn.
