Team Trials 2024
The Inter-Cub League Summer season is nearly upon us. If you are keen to play for one of the Highgate teams then please read the information below. This season we are entering:
- 5 womens and 6 mens teams in the Middlesex Summer League (played weekday evenings);
- 1 women’s and 1 men’s national team (played weekend daytime);
- 1 mixed cup team (played weekend daytime).
Team selection trials for all those who want to play will be taking place in the later part of March. The teams are open to all members, but you will need to have an LTA/BTM number. The trials will generally take place in the evenings 7:00-9:00pm (please check individual session times) over one week, commencing 25th March 2024.
All our teams at Highgate are very friendly, team trials are fairly relaxed and we are happy to help you find a doubles partner too. We are looking for committed players who are keen to find a doubles partner, come to training and be able to play matches through the summer season (mid April – end of August). For the most part, team matches consist of 4 sets of doubles in a competitive environment. Each team over the Summer consists of 3 pairs. Matches are played weekday evenings with matches starting from 6:30pm, though it’s encouraged to arrive a bit early for a warm up. The matches are played at home and away fixtures ranging from Highbury Fields in the South to Potters Bar in the North. Away matches are £10 and home matches are £12 each and this covers a meal, balls and floodlights when required. Following the match, meal and refreshments are provided.
If you are new to the teams; or want to be considered for a different team; or want to find a regular partner then the trials are for you. The sessions will be part coach lead with some drills and then lots of match-play. The sessions cost £5 and are as follows:

We are happy to answer any questions if you would like to know more about our inter club matches. For everyone else already in teams, we are assuming you would like to continue to play unless you’ve already said otherwise and will be sending out direct communication to those existing team players.
