Spend more time enjoying yourself on the tennis court and less time worrying about injury with Pilates for tennis. The programme is specifically designed for the needs of tennis players.
Tennis is a lifelong game, but injuries can get in the way. These are often caused by muscle over dominance or imbalance in. It can be hard on the joints with knees, backs and hips particularly at risk. Looking after the integrity of your joints and strengthening deep stability muscles is key to prolonging and improving your performance and enjoyment.
Join Tennis Pilates sessions on Thursday and Sunday to:
- Strengthen muscles to support and stabilise your hips, shoulders and spine
- Improve muscle balance
- Increase core strength, stability and endurance
- Improve mobility of the spine, hips and shoulders
- Increase overall strength and flexibility
Session will run weekly from Thursday 8th July and Sunday 11th July
Bookings open 7 days before the class for Highgate Members and non members can book 24 hours before the session.
Thursday evenings: 6:45pm – 7:45pm
Sunday mornings: 8:45am – 9:45am
£10 for gym members and £12 for non-members – PAY INSTRUCTOR ON DAY
Non Gym Members £2 Visitor’s Fee payable on booking, £10 paid to the instructor,
Sessions are limited to 8 participants to ensure everyone receives individual feedback.
Sessions will be led by Kirsty Himpfen-Jones who teaches the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute) Pilates method. Building on the traditional Pilates method, this approach is designed specifically for functional movement, injury prevention and sports benefits.
Pilates is widely recognised and practised by some of the top names in sport to support their performance and prologue their career: Andy Murray, Gareth Bale, Ryan Giggs, the New Zealand All Blacks, Freddie Flintoff, Tiger Woods, Darcy Bussell, Martina Navratilova to name but a few!
