SCT: Covid-19 – Advice to Clubs and the general public

Dear Shepherds Cot Clubs and other valued members of our community,

As a result of the current health emergency the Shepherds Cot is now closed and gates to the site are now locked. All activities on the Cot have been cancelled until further notice. Shepherds Cot is open to pedestrians, cyclists and dog walkers and Trustees would advise all in our community to take notice of advice from Public Health England before undertaking your once a day outdoor exercise and follow current advice on social distancing.

It must be stressed that sporting activity is suspended. It has been reported to me that since the Prime Minister’s announcement this week people have been seen on the tennis courts. This must not happen.

We would also like to ask dog walkers to take dog waste home when possible as emptying of bins is uncertain at this time. We note that in neighbouring Highgate Wood for example, bins have been sealed.

As the fields will be less busy over the coming weeks, we are concerned for the security of our site. Over the last few years we have worked hard to reduce anti-social behaviour, theft and fly tipping. If you are passing through the fields, please keep an eye out for anything suspicious and inform the police and let one of our Trustees or myself know as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support and please stay healthy in these difficult times.

With best regards

John Newton

Chairman, Shepherds Cot Trust
