Highgate Club Tournament Championship 2022

We had a wonderful tournament this summer between 20 August to 17th September. There were 146 entries for 5 categories, and 133 matches were played during these 4 weeks. More women joined this year, plus many juniors,  which enhanced the competitiveness of the tournament.

As organisers, we actually made a more ambitious plan for the final day’s celebration, such as asking questions to the finalists, fun games and singing together, etc, but due to many difficulties and uncontrollable elements,  it did not go as it promised on the day, it is our apology. We hope this final day can become a big party of the year in future.

Tennis is such a wonderful sport, which can be played by 2 people as well as by many in teams. It can be played by all ages and thought-out our life. We are so lucky to have this hobby accompanying us going through good times and bad times; We make friends here, we make a healthy lifestyle here. No matter if we win or lose, it is the participation that rewards us with wonderful experience, hope, frustration, delight and disappointment, these all are a part of life. We all know that it is the journey of life that matters,  not the end of it.

When we have enough people registered for the competition, we can run 2 ties, and make each match more close to an individual’s level.

We are making a suggestion to the committee that we shall keep the tournament’s dates the same each year, for example, fix its starting day to the 1st of September, which is easy to remember, so our members know when to expect it and keep September free for this annual event.

Our club runs a unique Brookside Tournament, seasonal ladders, social evenings, numerous kinds of teams and many extra events, this is because we have a group of good hearted people volunteering doing this or that, and all their efforts have made this club so alive, so functional and a nice place to be around.

We hope more people will step up to organise this event in the following years, bringing with you your passion, dedication and creativity.
